| VIGIL
FOR THE PANCHEM LAMA'S 12th BIRTHDAY 25th April 2001 |
Report by Michael Anderson
53 took part in this Vigil, despite the fact that it was a cold
wet evening and that we were opposite the Chinese embassy from
5pm - 9pm.
There were two fifteen minutes silences for the Tibetian people.
During the evening many birthday cards were delivered to te
Chinese Embassy for Gedhun Choekyl Nyima, the Panchem Lama.
When we prayed for him, we often wonder where he is and whether
he is alive or dead. Nearly six years ago, he was kidnapped by
the Chinese.
Many cars tooted their horns for Tibet. Leaflets were distributed
to them at the traffic lights. This was a most inspiring vigil.
*We will continue to work towards a Free Tibet for as long as
it takes* |
