Camden Council fly the flag for Tibet

On March 10th for the fifth year running the Tibetan flag flew on top of the flag pole on Camden Town Hall above the Euston Road in the heart of London.

Tibet Vigil joined Camden Council to raise the flag.
Yangchen, Tsering, Alicia, Paula and Simon joined the Mayor of Camden, Councillor Heather Johnson for the ceremony.

This year's event has received good publicity thanks to Mrs Zhu Qin, a website visitor and political officer at the Chinese Embassy.
Mrs Qin's warnings to Camden Council leader Jane Roberts that "raising the flag is an encouragement to the forces working against the Chinese government" made for good stories in the Camden New Journal and the Hampstead & Highgate Express .

As the flag flew above the Town Hall, lifted on a strong breeze, it looked completely majestic. It was an inspiring sight to see it flying there on this particular day, the anniversary of the Tibetan Uprising, especially in light of China's angry protests against it.
Many thanks to Camden Council for remaining undeterred, and our particular thanks to Councillor Jane Roberts and to the Mayor for continuing the tradition.
