Vigil News updated - April 20th 2007   19 years of protest in London  THE WEDNESDAY VIGIL FOR TIBET The Wednesday vigil has been an ongoing vigil for the past 19 years. Meeting every week since March 1989 6.00-8.00pm opposite the Chinese Embassy, Portland Place, London W1. click here for map It is the longest running vigil in the West as far as we know. Started as a protest at the imposition of martial law in Lhasa, Tibet, on the 23rd March 1989, it has been maintained by Tibet supporters every week since.
